Hola Muchachos!
We are exctied to tell you of the good things that God has been doing in our midst. During Week 5 of our school we received teaching on the New Testament Model for Evangelism. By looking at the examples of Jesus and His disciples in scripture we discussed key elements to sharing the good news of the Kingdom of God. We discussed the “Man of Peace” method which is outlined in Luke 10. The key idea behind this method is to go and seek out the lost in their own homes and communities instead of just inviting or expecting them to walk into a church. We were also given a helpful model for how to plant simple house church groups in places where there might not be a local body of believers.
We spent a couple afternoons that week, going out into a nearby community and applied the principles we had been learning. The community we focused on, Antorcha, is the same one where the two of us have already been doing ministry with a children's program called Circulo. We visited different houses and offered prayer to all who would receive it and it was really awesome to see God moving in people’s hearts and how they opened up to Him. Over the week our team saw around 10 people giving their hearts to the Lord and several others receiving healing and a desire to receive more of God in their lives. Eliza and another couple from our school have even started doing weekly Bible studies in the homes of some of the new believers to help them grow and be discipled in their faith.
We know God has been preparing the ground through the investment that many have made in this community over the years - it is awesome to be a part of that! We are also encouraged to see that God is bringing development and transformation both inside and outside of the classroom and we look forward to seeing what else God has in store in these upcoming months. Thank you for your prayers and support as we serve the Lord and the local community.
Blessings,
Tim and Eliza
