Hi Folks,
We though you might be interested in what life was like here day to day. It would be impossible to cover everything we are learning and doing in such a short space, but the following is a little snapshot of what a typical day on the farm looks like.
The day starts by having a great cooked breakfast and Costa Rican coffee around 7am followed by some time for reading or personal time and then getting out to do the morning chores around 9am. Milking goats, feeding chickens, letting the animals out to graze and cleaning stalls, watering etc...

The rest of the day we might do some gardening or other assorted projects like making homemade organic pesticide, building bug or weasel traps, tending or turning the compost piles, exercising the horses or doing a workshop with Terry, the main guy in charge here, and learning all sorts of stuff about sustaiable gardening, animal husbandry and appropriate technologies. Later in the afternoon we go and cut king grass with a machete to use for goat feed, bring all the animals back in, milk goats, gather eggs and make sure everyone is tucked in for the night. Evenings are generally pretty quiet and it gets dark around 6pm since we are so close to the equator.
We are really enjoying the life here, getting our hands dirty and learning so many things that we can take and do in other places. It's a priviledge to come alongside of the team here, learn from them and enjoy working with them.
